June 2025

Dear Friends,

Reflecting on one’s past comes frequently to some of us. It can be constructive and edifying: Grace. Or it can be a source of desolation when we only recall and dwell on our sins, mistakes, missed opportunities to do good or failures of our own making. The Exercises taught me to look for God in these reflections.

The Ignatian techniques I learned changed the process itself, the efficacy of it, and led me to see aspects of my past in a different light. Most importantly, I did and do find God in all of it. Now I can talk with God about what happened, rejoice, repent as the case may be, or simply share as I do with my Spiritual Director, my confessor, and a trusted friend.
